Meta Business Suite and Business Manager: Who Has Access to Your Accounts?

Check who is an admin in your business portfolio, which Pages and ad accounts you really own, and which agencies still have access.

Quick answer

Open business.facebook.com and choose Business settings. Users, then People, lists everyone in the business portfolio; Accounts lists the Pages, ad accounts and Instagram accounts; Users, then Partners, lists outside companies. Admin access means full control. Business Manager accounts are now called business portfolios.

Step by step

1. Pick the right business portfolio

Use the menu at the top left of Business settings to switch portfolios. Companies often have several, for example one created by an agency.

2. Check who the admins are

Under Users, then People, see who has admin access and who has employee access. Keep at least two admins from your own company.

3. Check the assets

Under Accounts, open Pages, Ad accounts and Instagram accounts. Each asset shows who has access and whether your portfolio owns it or only has partner access.

4. Review the partners

Under Users, then Partners, see which agencies can access your assets. Remove partners you no longer work with.

5. Check security

Open Security center and require two-factor authentication for everyone in the portfolio.

Good to know

One owner per asset

A Page or ad account can be owned by only one business portfolio. Others can get partner access. Check that the owner is your company, not an agency.

If no admin is left

Ask another admin first. Otherwise contact Meta Business Support through the Business Help Center and be ready to verify your business.

Keep this knowledge in the company, not in one person's head

Checking once is not enough. The next time a person or a role changes, the answers disappear again unless the company keeps them somewhere shared. The Vault in Target is built for exactly this.

Record the owner and who has access

For each service, the Vault stores the login together with whose name the account is in and who has been given access, such as agencies, freelancers and colleagues.

See what needs attention

The Vault flags accounts that are not in the company's name or that are about to renew, and a checklist shows which essential services the company still has no record of.

The knowledge stays when people change

Logins belong to the company, not to a person. Access is controlled by role, every reveal is logged, and a new colleague gets the full picture on day one.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Meta Business Suite and Business settings?

Meta Business Suite is the everyday tool for posting, messages and insights. Business settings is where people, assets and permissions are managed.

Who should be admin of the business portfolio?

Two people from your own company, for example the owner and a manager. Agencies should get employee or partner access instead.

Can an agency own our ad account?

Yes, if the agency created it under its own portfolio. Then you only have partner access and could lose it. Make sure your own portfolio owns the ad account.
